What are some of the nutritional benefits of Hommus?
Hommus contains no saturated fat, no cholesterol or sugars and is high in protein and fiber. Unlike many foods that are good for you, hommus also tastes great. It is a perfect food for anyone who is concerned about eating well or who is on a low cholesterol diet and doesn't want to sacrifice flavor.
Is Kosher Parve the same as Kosher?
The word 'Kosher' actually means 'fit' or 'spiritually fit', as described in the books of Deuteronomy and Leviticus. As a result of kosher supervision, kosher products are scrupulously clean, and the word Kosher has become synonymous with premium quality.
The word "Parve" (also spelled as "Pareve" or "Parevine") is very functional. It means a guarantee that the food product does not contain any meat or dairy products, and it has not come in contact with either.
The majority of Hannah products observe the more stringent Kosher Parve standards including our entire Hommus line, Taboule, Bruschetta, Roasted Pepper salad, Three Bean salad, Olive spread and the latest addition Pico de Gallo (Mexican Salsa).
What is Lycopene and where can it be found?
A powerful antioxidant abundant in red tomatoes and processed tomato products, may help prevent prostate cancer and some other forms of cancer, heart disease, and other serious diseases. Check out our Roasted Pepper salad, Bruschetta, and Pico de Gallo for a lycopene rich treat.
What are trans fats?
Trans fat from partially hydrogenated vegetable oils is very bad, much worse than saturated fats.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration ("FDA") has recently taken the position that “intake of trans fats should be as low as possible.” Hannah uses ingredients that result in low trans fat whenever possible.
Are Omega-3 fatty acids healthy?
Omega-3 fatty acids have been most widely studied regarding their effects on cardiovascular health. It's been discovered that EPA and DHA may help prevent heart disease and arteriosclerosis by lowering triglyceride levels, raising HDL ("good") cholesterol and, possibly "thinning" the blood. Hannah Bruschetta and Taboule products are rich in Omega-3 acids.
